2B Altuve Lights Up Rangers for 6 RBIs as Lake Monsters Extend Lead
The Cleveland Lake Monsters moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Texas Rangers at Cleveland Stadium by a score of 12-3. Lake Monsters second baseman Jose Altuve did some major damage. He went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 6. The win gives the Lake Monsters a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Play In.

The Lake Monsters took a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Texas hurler Ed Whitson with no outs, Altuve hit a bases-clearing triple.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Altuve said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Cleveland Stadium in Cleveland. The scheduled starters for the game are Jeff C D'Amico for the Texas Rangers and Dave Stieb for the the Cleveland Lake Monsters.
