| Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Padres | Starting pitcher Herb Score had a solid game. He was a big reason the San Diego Padres throttled the Tampon Bay Pussies, 5-2. San Diego reliever Bob Locker was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Heathcliff Slocumb took the loss for Tampon Bay. The defeat makes Tampon Bay 20-12.
San Diego won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Heathcliff Slocumb on the mound for Tampon Bay, third baseman Harry Steinfeldt hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Padres fans to their feet.
"Was I getting worried?" said Padres manager Jimmy O'Rourke. "Nope." He added, with a wink, "There was never a doubt in my mind."
