| Lake Monsters Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0 | The Cleveland Lake Monsters moved to within one game of the League Championship today, downing the Montreal Chiwawas on the road at Stade Olympique by a score of 6-3. Lake Monsters right-hander Rick Sutcliffe was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Lake Monsters a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Wild Card.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Ken Landreaux to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
Chiwawas manager Dan LaHousse did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the PBL World Series."
The next game is set to be played Thursday in Cleveland. The scheduled starters for the game are Bert Blyleven for the Montreal Chiwawas and Dave Stieb for the the Cleveland Lake Monsters.
