San Diego Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1 | Already down in the League Championship, the San Diego Padres put on their best show, beating the Cleveland Lake Monsters by a final score of 1-0 today. Eddie Lopat earned player of the game honors, as he threw 9 innings of shutout ball. San Diego now trails Cleveland 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
Lopat, who was born in New York, threw 114 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no earned runs.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Lopat said.
