| Pilgrims Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0 | Mike Flanagan pitched a gem to help the Boston Pilgrims escape with a tight 2-0 victory over the Seattle Cubs in a low-scoring Championship contest today. The left-handed Flanagan threw 8 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Pilgrims on a day when their offense dried up. Boston now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.
It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Chet Lemon, the two-time All-Star . Lemon contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put Boston up, 2-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Boston skipper Mike Wallace.
The next game is scheduled for Thursday, October 29th, 1981 in Boston. The scheduled starters for the game are Scott McGregor for Seattle and Bob Knepper for Boston.
