Home Loss Shrinks Pilgrims' Series Lead to 3-1 | The Seattle Cubs have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Boston Pilgrims, winning 9-6 at Fenway Park II today. Cubs third baseman John Castino was named player of the game after he went 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Cubs to 3-1 in the best-of-7 Championship.
The Cubs had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 9-6, Seattle, with one out. Boston, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, was mounting a threat. Reggie Smith dug in at the plate, but on a 0-2 slider, he struck out.
Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at Fenway Park II in Boston. The scheduled starters for the game are Britt Burns for the Seattle Cubs and Scott Sanderson for the the Boston Pilgrims. | | | | |
