| Padres Absorb 4-3 Loss at Cleveland Stadium | Cleveland pitcher Heinie Berger did his part in helping his team beat the San Diego Padres, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Scott Williamson converted his 11th save in 13 tries. The win has Cleveland at 20-36.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from first baseman Bill Skowron. For the game, Skowron went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Cleveland a 2-0 lead.
"Winning never gets dull," said Berger.
