The Boston Pilgrims picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Seattle Cubs, 1-0. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Erv Palica, who played a pivotal role in the win. The victory gives the Pilgrims a record of 39-31.
Jim Fregosi, the two-time Calgon Soft Hands Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Fregosi contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put Boston up, 1-0.
"Winning is contagious," said Fregosi. "We're looking forward to the next game."
