Wynne Goes Deep Twice in 14-7 Rangers Win | The Texas Rangers beat the Philadelphia Stars by a score of 14-7. center fielder Marvell Wynne deserved the lion's share of the credit. Wynne hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 6 for the Rangers. The winner was Texas reliever Michael Tonkin, now 5-0. The loser was Pat Combs. The win puts Texas at 35-32 this season.
Wynne contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Texas in the top of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Wynne took a fastball from Pat Combs and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Rangers to leap in front, 5-2.
