Late Rally by Rangers Secures 7-4 Win | The Cleveland Lake Monsters got a superb performance from pitcher Christy Mathewson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Texas. The Rangers won the game, 7-4. Mathewson threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Gene Bearden got credit for the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings. The win boosts the Rangers to 38-39. The loss puts the Lake Monsters at 30-47.
In the top of the eighth, Texas left fielder Gene Woodling hit a 3-run home run to right field. It put the Rangers up, 5-3.
