Cubs Nip Ambassadors, 6-5 | The Seattle Cubs picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Pittsburgh Ambassadors, 6-5. Starting pitcher Mike O'Neill was a big reason why. In 6.1 innings, O'Neill surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Tim Crabtree got the save, his 13th in 16 chances.
The Cubs got a big hit from first baseman Travis Hafner. In the bottom of the seventh, Hafner pounded a solo home run to right. His 5th home run of the season put the Cubs ahead, 6-0.
"We take it day by day here," said O'Neill, "and today was a good one for us."
