New York pitcher Yu Darvish, in particular, had a standout performance. Bob Locker earned his 17th save in 18 tries. New York raised its record to 74-65 with the win.
Wendell Magee, the 31-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Magee contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put New York up, 2-1.
