New York Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1 | The New York Yankees have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Pittsburgh Ambassadors, winning 9-2 at Yankee Stadium I today. Yankees left fielder Farmer Weaver was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Yankees to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Eliminator Round.
Andy Seminick, who won the Topps Rookie of the Year Award in 1997, aided the New York cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with 2 walks, while scoring 2 times.
Ambassadors manager Paul Patricola did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the PBL World Series."
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29th, 1998 at Allegheny Park in Pittsburgh. Slated to start are Yu Darvish for New York and Bobby Shantz for Pittsburgh. | | | | |
