| Cubs Weihe Smacks 5 Hits Wednesday, August 25th, 1999 Seattle second baseman Podge Weihe had a big day at Cleveland Stadium today against the Cleveland Lake Monsters. The 27-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led the Cubs to a 14-3 triumph over Cleveland.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Weihe said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
