Ambassadors Take Down Stars, 5-4 | The Pittsburgh Ambassadors racked up a win at Allegheny Park, bumping off the Philadelphia Stars, 5-4. Juan Marichal, who started for Pittsburgh, pitched effectively for his team. Pittsburgh reliever Clay Bryant picked up the win to move to 1-0. Bill Sayles suffered the loss. The loss has the Stars at 1-1.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 4-4, third baseman Bob Dillinger won it for Pittsburgh. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Dillinger hit a 1-1 sinker from Bill Sayles for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 5-4 win.
