Almost There: Houston On Cusp of R2 Triumph After 6-3 Win
The Houston Black Aces moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the Cleveland Lake Monsters on the road at Cleveland Stadium by a score of 6-3. Black Aces left-hander Ed Brandt had a strong outing. He threw 9 innings of 7-hit ball. The win gives the Black Aces a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.

Brandt, a native of Spokane, Washington, was dealing all game. He kept Cleveland hitters off-balance, while giving the Black Aces 9 quality innings. Brandt threw 126 pitches, allowing 7 hits and striking out 9.

"We did a lot of things right," said Brandt.

Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday. Slated to start are Jose DeLeon for Cleveland and Aaron Harang for Houston.
