Big Game from Robinson Not Enough, Lake Monsters Lose | The Boston Pilgrims overcame a fine performance by Cleveland first baseman Eddie Robinson to defeat the Lake Monsters, 8-7, at Fenway Park II. Robinson slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Roger Clemens got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. David Phelps earned save number 3.
Del Gainer was a prime contributor to the Boston win. He was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fourth with two out, the 28-year old first baseman hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 8-1, in favor of the Pilgrims.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Gainer told the Boston Daily News.
