| Pilgrims Get Dramatic 4-3 Triumph | The Boston Pilgrims beat the Cleveland Lake Monsters, 4-3, at Fenway Park II. The Pilgrims got a fine performance from first baseman Del Gainer, who went 5-5 with a home run, 4 singles, and a walk. The win belongs to Van Mungo in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ralph Beard took the loss for Cleveland. The Pilgrims, at 21-15, have now won 4 straight.
Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the 13th inning, Boston shortstop Jim Fregosi had a chance to be the hero. Facing Cleveland pitcher Ralph Beard with runners on 1st and 2nd, Fregosi, who finished 5th in the PBL in doubles with 41 in 1994, hit a walk-off run-scoring single.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Gainer said.
