Lake Monsters Come Up Short at New York, 3-2 | New York and Cleveland duked it out and the Yankees came out victorious.
New York Yankees starter Johnny Cueto pitched his team past the Cleveland Lake Monsters, 3-2. Cueto got the win, improving to 2-7. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Cueto allowed 2 runs. Doug Jones sewed up the save, his 14th.
Lonny Frey, who is tied for 10th in the PBL in triples with 3, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the second baseman did the little things right to help the team.
Cueto said his team "played with focus."
