| Black Aces Shimmy Past Stars, 3-2 | Philadelphia got a terrific performance from pitcher Bill Walker, but it wasn't enough to beat the Houston Black Aces. Houston won the Aces Pavillion contest, 3-2. Walker threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Houston reliever Ray Kremer picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bill Sayles took the loss. Houston now has a record of 30-22 with the win.
The Black Aces relied on center fielder Kirby Puckett for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the ninth, he delivered, hitting a 2-run triple to seal the deal.
"I was hoping to make good contact," said Puckett. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
