Pussies Edge Past Ambassadors, 5-4 | The Pittsburgh Ambassadors got a superb performance from pitcher Jimmy Dygert, but the Tampon Bay Pussies still won the game, 5-4. Dygert threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Tampon Bay pitcher Roy Crabb got the win. He's now 1-0. Lynn Brenton was tagged with the loss. The win hiked the Tampon Bay record to 41-20.
With the game on the line, Jim Wynn came to bat in the bottom of the ninth. And the Tampon Bay left fielder came through, cracking a run-scoring single off Adam Cimber, the Pittsburgh pitcher.
"Win or lose," Wynn reflected afterward, "baseball is a beautiful game." | | | | |
