Pussies Mow Down Ambassadors, 10-2 | The umbrellas came out during the Tampon Bay-Pittsburgh contest at Pamprin Ballpark.
The Tampon Bay Pussies dumped the Pittsburgh Ambassadors, 10-2, in large part due to third baseman Dick Allen. On the day, Allen went 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Pussies. Paul Derringer, the winner, improved to 6-1. He held the Ambassadors to 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 0.
In the bottom of the third, Trevor Story delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 2nd, the Tampon Bay shortstop hit a run-scoring triple, putting the Pussies in front, 10-2.
"Good team win," Story said. "I love it when a plan comes together."
The win puts Tampon Bay at 42-20 this season. | | | | |
