| Rangers Suffer 2-1 Loss to Philadelphia | The Texas Rangers got a superb performance from pitcher Tim Lincecum, but the Philadelphia Stars still won the game, 2-1. Lincecum threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Philadelphia reliever Rich Yett picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jose Acevedo absorbed the loss. Bill Sayles was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 18 save opportunities.
One important at-bat came with the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Texas hurler Jose Acevedo, Jimmy T Williams, who led the PBL in batting average with .357 in 1991, hit a solo home run. The Stars went on to win.
"Not everyone likes pitching duels," said Williams. "But I do."
The Stars now have a record of 28-40 with the win over Texas.
