| Pussies Knock Off San Diego, 8-7 | A good performance from third baseman Dick Allen helped the Tampon Bay Pussies defeat the San Diego Padres, 8-7. Allen was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Pussies. Michael Foltynewicz earned the win to go to 6-3. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Frank Browning converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Pussies had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the first, when left fielder Jim Wynn hit a 2-run home run. The home run came off Dixie Leverett and made the score 3-0, Pussies. Wynn went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Dan LaHousse.
