Werber Leads Charge, Boston Blasts Lake Monsters | Billy Werber was a major factor in the 27-3 Boston win over Cleveland. The Pilgrims third baseman was 4-5 with 4 singles and 3 walks. He scored 5 times and drove in 4. Boston pitcher Johnny Cueto got the win. He's now 7-0. Kevin Jarvis was tagged with the loss. Henry Boyle recorded the save, making him 2 for 6.
The Pilgrims got an important contribution from right fielder Sam West, who in the top of the sixth knocked a 1-0 curveball into right for a grand slam home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Pilgrims ahead, 17-3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Werber told the Boston Daily News.
Cleveland's current losing streak is now 5 games. | | | | |
