Ambassadors Win, Mays 4-5 | The Cleveland Lake Monsters and Pittsburgh Ambassadors riveted fans at Allegheny Park.
The Pittsburgh Ambassadors beat the Cleveland Lake Monsters, 8-6, at Allegheny Park. Pittsburgh center fielder Willie Mays had an outstanding performance. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Pittsburgh pitcher Octavio Dotel got the win. He's now 6-3. Adbert Alzolay was tagged with the loss. Clay Bryant earned his 26th save in 30 tries.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth when Mays, who is on pace for 137 RBI this season, hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Ambassadors into the lead, 6-5.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Mays told the Pittsburgh News.
