| San Diego Beats Cleveland, 4-2 | The Cleveland Lake Monsters got a sterling performance from pitcher Storm Davis, but the San Diego Padres still prevailed, 4-2. Davis threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. San Diego reliever Claude Osteen picked up the win to move to 2-17. Storm Davis suffered the loss. The win puts San Diego at 51-79.
The Padres got an important contribution from center fielder Daryl Boston, who in the top of the fourth knocked a 1-2 fastball into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Padres ahead, 3-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Diego manager Jimmy O'Rourke. "It's usually not just one thing."
