Cubs Drop Pussies, 4-3, with Late Score | The Seattle Cubs did just enough to sneak past the Tampon Bay Pussies, 4-3, at Wrigley Field. Seattle pitcher Adam Wainwright, in particular, had a standout performance. Seattle reliever Tim Crabtree was the winner. His record is now 2-5. The losing pitcher was Fred Johnson. Seattle, now 63-84, holds down 8th place in the PBL.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Seattle designated hitter Lu Blue, facing Fred Johnson, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cubs the 4-3 win.
Blue told a Seattle Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win. | | | | |
