| Texas Wins, 6-5 | The Texas Rangers stopped the Cleveland Lake Monsters, 6-5, behind an impressive performance from Hank Blalock. The 24-year old third baseman made life miserable for Cleveland pitching. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Texas reliever Mike Kekich picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Storm Davis took the loss. The save went to Roy Witherup, number 2 for him.
In the top of the sixth inning, Texas got a break when Blalock went to the plate. With no outs, runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Rangers trailing 3-2, Blalock hit a sacrifice fly.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Blalock.
Texas goes to 3-1 with the win.
