He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Bill Sayles closed the game out for Philadelphia, earning his 5th save.
Contributing to the Philadelphia win was Anthony Rizzo. In the bottom of the first, the top prospect had a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-0, the Stars in front.

The Cubs fall to 9-11 and continue their wobbly start to the 1999 season.
