| Pilgrims Score 8-3 Win Against Philadelphia | The Boston Pilgrims defeated the Philadelphia Stars, 8-3, at Connie Mack Stadium. Boston center fielder Mickey Mantle had a superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. David Phelps was credited with the save for Boston, his 2nd of the season. The win gives Boston a record of 16-13.
It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Sam West, the 26-year old right fielder . West contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Boston up, 2-0.
"We maximized our offense today," said Boston skipper Mike Wallace. "That makes everyone's life easier."
