Round 3 Game 1 Victory for Grove and Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Allegheneys powered past the visiting Houston Black Aces, 3-2, in the opener of the Round 3 at Allegheny Park today. Pittsburgh starting pitcher Lefty Grove threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Allegheneys now lead the series 1-0.

Ernie Whitt, the Pittsburgh catcher, contributed a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 3-2, Allegheneys. For the game, Whitt was 2-4 with a double.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Whitt said after the game.

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Vinegar Bend Mizell for Houston and Bob Welch for Pittsburgh.
