Almost There: New York On Cusp of R4 Triumph After 4-0 Win | The New York Yankees got an exceptional performance from starter Masahiro Tanaka, who silenced the Boston offense en route to a 4-0 shutout win in Game 4 of the PBL World Series today. The Pilgrims could never get a bead on the right-handed Tanaka, who threw 9 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Yankees now hold a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
Tanaka, a native of Itami, Japan, was dealing all game. He kept Boston hitters off-balance, while giving the Yankees 9 quality innings. Tanaka threw 96 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 3.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said New York skipper Chris Patricola.
The next game is set to be played Monday. Slated to start are Patrick Corbin for New York and Mike Scott for Boston. | | | | |
