Stars Even With Pilgrims After Home Win
The Philadelphia Stars and the Boston Pilgrims will take the Divisional to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Stars beat the Pilgrims 12-2 at Veterans Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Philadelphia right-hander Rick Rhoden was named player of the game in the win after he threw 9 innings allowing 2 runs.

Rhoden pitched a complete game for Philadelphia. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 9 hits. He struck out 11 during his 126-pitch performance.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Boston manager Mike Wallace. "We got flat-out beat."

Game 7 is scheduled for tomorrow at Veterans Stadium. Slated to start are Steve Carlton for the Boston Pilgrims and Floyd Bannister for the the Philadelphia Stars.
