| Tampon Bay Sunk by Cleveland, 3-2 | The Cleveland Lake Monsters topped the Tampon Bay Pussies, 3-2, in Phoenix Baseball League action at Pamprin Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cleveland pitcher Christy Mathewson. Mathewson got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. Mathewson allowed 2 runs. The save was Scott Williamson's, his 3rd.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from catcher Darrin Fletcher, who in the top of the fourth hit a solo home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Lake Monsters on top, 3-2.
"Both teams played hard," said Cleveland manager John Byedon.
Tampon Bay drops to 3-4.
