| Cubs Score Late, Top Stars, 6-5 | The Seattle Cubs topped the Philadelphia Stars, 6-5, the lion's share of the credit going to designated hitter Lu Blue. On the day, Blue was 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles. He scored 2 times for the Cubs. Dick Robertson recorded the save, making him 6 for 10. The win puts Seattle at 51-76.
Tied up with the Stars in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cubs got a boost from right fielder Jackie Jensen. With the bases loaded, Jensen saw a 1-1 changeup from Pat Combs and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Seattle on top, 6-5.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Jensen. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
