| Stars Knock Off Seattle, 6-3 | 1999 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Seattle Cubs.
The Philadelphia Stars defeated the Seattle Cubs, 6-3, in Phoenix Baseball League action at Wrigley Field. Philadelphia pitcher Pete Alexander had a standout performance. Alexander, now 13-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs.
Philadelphia used the bat of Bob Aspromonte to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Stars ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Aspromonte said after the game.
At 63-65, the Stars claim 5th place in the PBL.
