| Black Aces Win, 9-8, in Extra Frames | The Houston Black Aces powered past the Tampon Bay Pussies, 9-8, at Pamprin Ballpark. Willie Keeler was 6 for 6 with 6 singles, while scoring 3 times, to lead the charge. Houston reliever Boone Logan picked up the win, raising his record to 7-2. Dave Righetti was tagged with the loss. Sean Doolittle earned the save, his 27th in 32 tries.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Tony Lazzeri came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Tampon Bay pitcher Dave Righetti, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Houston on top, 9-8.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Black Aces manager Jimi Patricola. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
With the victory, the Black Aces upped their record to 78-51.
