Philadelphia starter Pete Alexander had a strong outing against the Pittsburgh Ambassadors at Allegheny Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. In 8 innings, Alexander surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs.
Philadelphia used the clutch hitting of Bob Aspromonte to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stars ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
