New York's Bobby Veach put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 1999 Phoenix Baseball League Most Valuable Player Award.

The 30-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .377 average, picking up 220 hits, 34 doubles, 9 triples, 45 home runs and 176 RBIs, while scoring 139 runs.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mickey Mantle of the Boston Pilgrims finished second in voting, while Jim Fregosi of the Boston Pilgrims finished third.
