| Stars Get Past Yankees 7-0 to Open Eliminator Round | The stakes were high. Pete Alexander was ready.
The right-hander turned in a performance for the ages at Yankee Stadium I today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Philadelphia Stars to victory in Game 1 of the Eliminator Round. Alexander held the New York Yankees to 6 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 4. The win got the best-of-7 series off to a good start for Philadelphia, which now leads 1-0.
In his 105-pitch effort, Alexander allowed no runs on 6 hits over 9 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 4.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Alexander.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in New York. The scheduled starters for the game are Jim LaMarque for the Philadelphia Stars and Bobby J Jones for the the New York Yankees.
