| Philadelphia Defeats Pittsburgh, 10-9 | The Philadelphia Stars grabbed a win, 10-9, over the Pittsburgh Ambassadors at Allegheny Park. Philadelphia center fielder Brandon Nimmo was 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Bill Sayles notched his 18th save in 22 chances. Philadelphia goes to 31-44, Pittsburgh to 33-42.
Orlando Merced's at-bat in the top of the ninth inning was a big one for Philadelphia. Coming to bat with one out, runners on 2nd and 3rd and Philadelphia trailing 9-8, the left fielder hit a run-scoring single.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Merced.
