Pilgrims Handed 7-4 Loss by Philadelphia | The Philadelphia Stars beat the Boston Pilgrims, 7-4, at Connie Mack Stadium. Philadelphia third baseman Jimmy T Williams had an outstanding performance. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Matt Moore picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Freddie Fitzsimmons was tagged with the loss. George Sharrott was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Anthony Rizzo had a productive at-bat for the Stars with one out in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, the first baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The at-bat was important in the Philadelphia win.
Rizzo said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
Philadelphia is now 46-54, Boston 60-40. | | | | |
