Cubs Dealt 4-2 Loss by Tampon Bay | Tampon Bay beat Seattle on the strength of starter Hal Newhouser's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. In 5.2 innings, Newhouser surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Frank Browning notched his 4th save in 4 chances.
The Pussies got an important contribution from left fielder Jim Wynn, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a first pitch fastball into left for a solo home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Pussies ahead, 2-0.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Tampon Bay manager Dan LaHousse.
