On Road, Tampon Bay Drops Philadelphia, 4-2 | Behind an impressive start by Hal Newhouser, Tampon Bay beat Philadelphia, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Newhouser, now 8-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Roy Crabb converted his 18th save in 19 tries.
Terry Steinbach had a big hit for Tampon Bay in the top of the third inning. With Tampon Bay leading 1-0, Steinbach hit a 2-run double. It was his 17th double of the season and put the Pussies up, 3-0.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Newhouser.
